Maybe this wasn’t a good Idea…. | Blogtober

Hellooo! Welcome back to day 4 of October. So as you can see with the title, it’s a bit of a rant or a thought process. You know how they say we live and we learn? WELL, welcome to the blog post of lessons I had to learn the more difficult way in my 25 years (and 8 days) of living on this planet.

Lesson #1: Listen to your gut/instincts.

Super cliche? I KNOW but it’s really the truth. I’ve found that over the years my instincts aren’t ever wrong. The overthinking and anxieties that i feel in any situation, tend to be right in the end so why have i continued to not listen to them? Don’t answer that, it’ll be a question for my therapist.

Lesson #2: Time management is important.

We all have our many ‘hats’ in life that we wear on a daily. Some of us have more than others… and we all don’t have the same hat’s either which is expected since our lives may be completely different. In my experience as a content creator, entrepreneur and human being its very overwhelming 90% of the time. Taking the time to really give yourself IDEAL timeframes, goals and overall schedule is super important with how much you take on as an adult. Believe it or not but having no routine or plans to tackle your tasks can be detrimental to your mental health.

I unfortunately have had to experience this the difficult way.

As of right now i’ve been struggling to get tasks done. I’ve got a long list of things to do whether for my business, my house, my social media pages, my blog and my overall life. The good thing is that the list doesn’t really have a deadline… the bad thing is my energy levels have been a bit wonky due to the change in weather as well as staying later at work. Also those who aren’t fully aware but I do have mental illnesses as well that contribute to my energy levels, moods, etc.. throughout the week. Trying to balance work, business, content creating and overall life is very hard. Tackling this list is also a bit difficult right now as well but I am trying my best all while reminding myself to be kind to myself– thats all there is to it honestly.

Point is: take the time for you. Make sure you’re literally scheduling out your goals and plans for the week giving yourself plenty of room to breathe, eat, sleep and take time to REST without worrying about XYZ.

Lesson #3: If you want something ask for it.

This one is very obvious and simple but at the same time its not. I have had this tendency to try and get things done by myself without asking for help even if i truly needed it. Someone may have asked me If i was doing ok and needed help– my answer? YUP, i am great thank you.

Could it be because i’m stubborn? Possibly but also because I just very much like figuring things out on my own. There’s a satisfaction in when starting a project and finishing it all by myself. Again this could be because I have ADD/ADHD and all my young adult life i’ve been known to start something and not finish– therefore now I try my hardest to not ask for the assistance and make it happen on my own.

This is something I am working on slowly but surely because there is nothing wrong with asking for help. There is nothing wrong with asking for a raise if needing it. There is nothing wrong with asking your partner for something it is you need more from them. This last one also goes towards siblings, parents, friends, etc… Your boundaries and necessities in ANY relationship are just as important as the next.

Lesson #4: Saving money is still saving money.

This one is short and sweet. No matter how much money you’re putting aside, you’re still saving money. If you have saved $10 this month and $5 last month guess what you now have $15 put aside. The goal should be to add a bit more to your savings whenever you able to.

If next month you come across $10 more dollars on a random Tuesday from doing a scratch off, try not to think about spending it. Put it in your savings on top of what you would already save. Let’s say you were going to save $15, now you’re saving $25 this month having a total savings balance of $40.

Do not get mad at yourself for saving even the littlest bit. It all adds up and will eventually be useful in a time of emergency. Tip: you could put this money into an account that grows interest as well, this way your monthly savings is making you more money.

There you have it! These are 4 lessons I have learned that I wanted to shed light on this dull and rainy Tuesday. I have a 25 lessons post as well where i go over 25 lessons i’ve learned in my 25 years of life. Birthday series! Check it out as well.

Side note:

I wanted to put this blog post together for multiple reasons. One reason being that it’s great to have accountability and grow from our mistakes (or lessons) and documenting these things allows me to see the growth in time via re-visiting these blog posts. I also enjoy posting relatable content for others to see they aren’t the only one feeling this particular way. Hence why my blog is a lifestyle blog, we talk about the real authentic things and the interesting ones too.
