Goodbye 2022 | New Year Reset

It’s that time again where the year is coming to an end. The day after Christmas I tend to start cleaning up my physical and digital spaces. There’s something about getting ready to delete photos and creating space on my digital spaces for the new opportunities and memories to come in just two weeks time frame.

I clean out my phone’s photos by using apps like Google Photos, emailing myself copies and using external hard drives for all my device backup storages. I also use apps like Mercari, Offerup and letgo for ridding physical items from my room/house and creating less clutter! The new year reset is one of my favorite things to do. I know there could be other things i’m missing and or better ways to go about it so with that said… If you have any New Year reset routines, share with us below.

 

Today is New Years Eve and I am just about ready for this year to end.

2022 has provided me with a lot of insight within myself and those I surround myself with. I mean let’s take a trip down memory lane.

January  – February

January 2022 I had recently shut down my boutique business and started essentially posting motivational content on my main platform; facebook. I would actively participate in facebook business related groups and help anyone who wanted more information on Dropshipping and affiliate marketing. Sometimes i even gave social media tips and tricks.

New Year Reset

I brainstormed with a friend and my mother about feeling a sense of passion to help others in their business journey previously before and this month, i decided to brainstorm it even more. I took down a lot of notes, researched a bunch and came to the conclusion of starting a Virtual Assistant side hustle / business.

February 1st 2022, was the day I launched my side hustle but I didn’t call it that because I always knew that this would be more. A business is what I continued to call it (even today). By the end of February I had spoken to 5 individuals that wanted to work with me and 2 of them hired me for one time projects. I had reached out to a local influencer that I have supported for about 6-8 months before reaching out and letting her know I’d love to be her assistant if she ever needed one.

March – April

March 17th, 2022 I had a free consultation with the influencer. I remember being in awe and shaking all at the same time because of how nervous and excited I was. This was a turning point in my business.

She was on board already prior to this call. This call was just a formal expectation and questions call where i’d get to know more of her needs for an assistant and me telling her what i’d be able to do. We also spoke about pricing and how we’d go about payments.  New Year Reset

She took a chance with me and 2 days later we had officially signed contracts and been working ever since. I had learned so much within 30 days of working with her and the crazy part is I naturally fell in love with the influencer world by day 28. There is so much behind the scenes that i never got to see, i knew it wasn’t easy but i also didn’t know it was THIS much.

May – June

I graduated with my Associates degree late May… which I didn’t think was even going to happen. I cried, literally lol. I finally had finished this one part of my life that i had prolonged for years due to uncertainty and mental health. That’s for another story in the future.

I continued to work with my influencer client but at this point in time, she became more than just a client. I gained a friend, a really sweet and funny friend who gives so much tough love!

I was also in the process of starting my blog again and the things i’d experience working hand in hand with a lifestyle influencer gave me the idea of how things could look for me in the near future with my blog as a lifestyle blog influencer. New Year Reset

In the midst of all these months I had also started other side hustles. These side hustles included being a personal virtual assistant with a tech company as a independent contractor and a lot of survey apps/sites. My favorite survey site till this day is AttaPoll.

AttaPoll surveys are 80% filled with ones you’ll qualify for. They allow you to cashout at $2.50-3.50 depending on where you’d like to cash out on (i.e: PayPal, Amazon, etc..). I’ve spoken highly about this site across all social media platforms because i truly believe it is one app that everyone should get on for side cash.

July – August

These two months were focused on mental health for myself and my client. I knew she had a big trip coming in August where she’d be out the entire month… guess who had their moment to shine even bigger? ME. New Year Reset

I took care of automatic vacation messages and practically handled all of the emails; negotiation with brands, saying yes or not for specific collaborations. At this point i had a very clear idea of what my client’s needs were, what she could provide brands and what was simply just lowballing her. These two months happened to be my favorite of the year because I truly fell in love with becoming an influencer based assistant. New Year Reset

I then brainstormed and did a bit of research because I didn’t want to give up working with other business owners as well. I had a lot to think about but there was no rush in knowing everything all at once. No matter what I told myself.

Last minute, literally the last weekend of August I decided to bring my blog back up and running for my birthday month. It wasn’t all together yet but it was more than enough and i couldn’t wait any longer. New Year Reset New Year Reset New Year Reset 

September – November

September 1st, my blog re-launched and that first 4 days I had reached over 3k individuals. I had the help of my amazing client and I am super grateful for the others who support me and had shared my posts.

A post i did on facebook around the 1st or 2nd week of Sept, had gone very viral. Connecting me with various of people and gaining followers. That traction also brought people to my blog and continued a growing email list.

Throughout the months of September and October, I was really just focusing on blog material and my family. There was a unexpected health related matter with my Grandmother the weekend of my birthday celebrations that kind of put a lot of grey clouds in the sky, so to speak. It was a very difficult time for my family and I navigating through overwhelming information, our emotions and still continuing on with daily life because time just doesn’t stop and bills don’t get paused either.

These were very stressful times and emotional rollercoaster moments. I’d like to also add that I do NOT ride rollercoasters in real life for a damn good reason lol. These months also start the many birthdays and holidays we have in our family that are back to back. Which also caused a headache to say the least.  New Year Reset

Nonetheless, I am grateful to have spent a lot of the time with family these months. Even in scary moments we had each other’s back and took it day by day. My friends who checked in on me, my facebook family that prayed and wished me well; it’s all appreciated and im grateful.

We celebrated my dad’s birthday, Thanksgiving and then I got sick for a month. Which just sped the days up for me. It’ll be monday and i’ll blink and it was December 19th, a few days away from my Godson turning 13 and all the fun holidays (at least my fav holiday).

December

It is now day 31 of December and as I look back on this month i can’t really tell you how much of it I remember. It was constant days of going to work, coming home and either taking care of things before getting ready to do it again the next day or I’d go out with my friend for a night drive, gossip, singing and laughter and self medication till MOST of the time 11pm at night.

I did get to reflect on this year a lot this month. I did realize I was in funk from end of September to this month. It was just a accumulation of a lot of things happening all at once and I needed a burn out break of doing absolutely nothing but dealing with emotions. I tried to stay active as best as I could on social media. Most people don’t understand why but for me it’s because I could become shadow banned or I could overall lose people on friends lists if I hadn’t stayed active.

I didn’t do a lot ( this month ) but I did enough and that really shows me that the pressure I once had before 2022 to consistently be on social media and try to become viral or something, it’s really not the mentality needed to have as an entrepreneur. New Year Reset

The Finale / Final thoughts

I truly have learned a lot this year. Early on I’d have friends for 10+ years walk out on me with no true explanation but I’d gain self reassurance and awareness. I gained peace within myself over time realizing that I can do anything all on my own. I fell in love with my passion to help others and created a business that could do just that. I fell in love with music again. I fell in love with love again through movies and people that I came across.

My love life has never been the best.. i mean im literally the single aunt, friend, cousin, etc.. And every holiday season I look at myself and say “we’ll try again next year” because even if I end up in a relationship it somehow ends before the holidays and can’t bring them home to enjoy our family moments lol. However those moments and memories i’ve created are forever embedded in my heart and brain. Who knows maybe next year will really be the year I don’t have to say those 4 words again. New Year Reset

All I know is everything happens for a reason and I’m truly excited to end the year the way I have. All the accomplishments, the milestones and the people I am starting the New Year with.

Next year i’ve got a lot of plans for myself, this blog, my business and other adventures yet discussed on here or with anyone.
